Among the young ones in the community are those known as Junior Youth, who…represent a special group with special needs as they are somewhat in between childhood and youth when many changes are occurring within them. Creative attention must be devoted to involving them in programs of activity that will engage their interests, mold their capacities for teaching and service, and involve them in social interaction with older youth.
Throughout Alaska (and the world), groups of these young people gather to learn and to be of service. These Junior Youth are at a pivotal moment in their lives. You can see them figuring out how they will fit into the larger society. The Junior Youth groups gather to have discussions on topics such as truthfulness, unity, justice, cooperation, service to humanity, striving for excellence, and relying on God for guidance and assistance. These young people turn these ideas into action through service projects in their own neighborhoods and communities. They also have a lot of fun along the way!
The Junior Youth groups, participants, mentors, and helpers can be people from any faith.
If you are interested in joining a Junior Youth group in your area, feel free to reach out to your local Bahá’í Community or contact the Bahá’ís using this “contact us” link.
